It takes a day if you are in a hurry. Starting in Galway Citie in the Long Walk and back to Padraigins Pub for a pint.
If you are not in a hurry and sense prevails it could take an awful lot longer. Now after more years than I can remember, I'm still going there.
We used to go to Spiddal every year on our annual hols when I was about 14 years old, for a month. Highlight of the escape from Dublin was my Dad's
great idea to tour Connemara.
Galway , Barna, Spiddal, Roundstone, Clifden, Kylemore, Leenane, Maam Cross, back to Galway and home to Spiddal . The perfect quickie tour of Connemara, high light of our holiday, I never forget it.
Years pass and now I just stop over and enjoy the hidden treasures along the way, bear with me and drive slowly in Ireland !

You're only halfway round the 8 by the time you reach Clifden. Some beautiful spots along the way from Roundstone, Dogs bay with its incredible white glistening strand, Ballyconneely and Bunowen Harbour, the famous coral strand ( don't miss a dip here ) Errislannan and the first trans Atlantic flight Commemorative Statue in the middle of the Bog ! where The Plane landed, then a short drive to Clifden.
Now leaving the desolation of the Maam Valley onto north eastern Galway back to the ancient Citie of the tribes, a last glimpse the Cladagh but stop off on your way home at McDonagh's thatched pub in Oranmore for a pint of the black stuff and a few oysters.
The above images are only a selection of my Images of Galway to high light the amazing beauty of this County.
